BALTIMORE – Despite a brilliant pitching performance from
Madison Didion, the Coppin State softball team was defeated by Howard University, 2-0, in MEAC play on Monday afternoon at CSU Softball Field.

How it Happened
- Neither team scored through the first five innings as Madison Didion and Howard's Mckenzi Steele were engaged in a pitcher's duel.
- Didion fanned ten batters through the first five innings, striking out the side in the second inning.
- Howard held Coppin without a base hit until Desiree Carrizosa led off the fourth inning with a hustle double to center field but the was stranded there after three-straight outs.
- The Bison scored both runs in the sixth with a one-out double, followed by a costly fielding error and a single. Didion struck out the final batter of the frame swinging.
- Coppin's best chance to score came in the sixth as it left two runners on with singles by Megan Narvaez and Cayla Brown. Both were replaced by pinch runners and both were forced out on a fielder's choice later in the frame.
Inside the Numbers
- Madison Didion allowed no earned runs on five hits while striking out 14, just one off her career-high which was set against Howard last season.
- Megan Narvaez reached base safely twice with a base hit and a walk.
- Howard's Mckenzi Steele allowed just four hits while striking out six.
