  • Banks and Crossman had a team-high three RBI while Alviarez drove in a pair.
  • Banks, Treyes, Lohr and Nazier McIlwain all scored twice.
  • McIlwain's RBI single in the first gave him 100 career RBI which is the fourth-most in CSU history.  He is four RBI from tying Brian Pisani ('97) for third place.  Adam Figueroa ('03) owns the school-record with 132 RBI, 21 more than Cecil Christwell's ('98) 111.
  • Devin Rivera Ozuna tossed 4.2 innings, allowing six earned runs before Branden Redfern took over, giving up one run over the next 2.1 innings with three punchouts.
  • Treyes threw the last two frames and allowed three runs.

How It Happened
  • Coppin scored six runs in the first inning with the first run coming off the bat of Nazier McIlwain who plated Corey Treyes from third with an RBI single.  With the RBI, McIlwain became just the third Eagles player to record 100 career RBI.
  • Justin Banks followed with a three-run home run to left, his league-leading fifth roundtripper of the season, making it a 4-0 ballgame.
  • Erik Crossman then drew a walk, stole second and scored on a RBI single by Marcos Castillo.  Castillo eventually scored after stealing second and advancing on a wild pitch and passed ball.
  • Starting pitcher Devin Rivera Ozuna got a double play ball to help him out of the first inning but the Hornets were able to get on the board with a run in the third.
  • Coppin got the run back and got two more in the fourth to extend the lead to 9-1 as Crossman cleared the bases with a three-run double.  Scoring on the play was Treyes, Derek Lohr and Banks, all of whom reached on walks.
  • Rivera Ozuna got a 1-2-3 fourth inning, but the Hornets got six runs off him in the fifth to end his day.  Branden Redfern relieved him with two outs in the frame to get out of the inning with a 9-7 lead.
  • The Eagles extended the lead to three runs in the sixth as Carlos Alviarez drew a bases-loaded walk but Delaware State cut the deficit back to two runs with a run in its half of the frame.
  • Both teams went scoreless in the seventh but Alviarez homered in the eighth for CSU and the Eagles got another run in the inning on a RBI single by Lohr to make the score, 12-8.
  • Treyes went to the mound to start the eighth and allowed a run and gave up two more in the ninth but he got the final batter to pop up, sealing the victory for Coppin.
