Bowling Returns To The Lanes After Almost 3 Months Off, Visits Kutztown

| By:
BALTIMORE, Md. – Coppin State women's bowling is back to business after nearly three months off as it heads to Kutztown for the Golden Bear Classic. This will be the team's first tournament since the UMES Hawk Classic from November 16-18 and the first of the spring season.

Coppin State will begin the tournament with a bye as their opponent (Roberts Wesleyan) will only be making the trip for Saturday and Sunday's matches. CSU will look to stack wins on Friday as it gets a manageable slate of New Jersey City, Wilmington (DE), Kutztown (host) and LIU Post. Saturday will present a significant gauntlet as it will face all three ranked opponents in order to begin the day. The Lady Eagles will battle #23 Duquesne, #19 Mount St. Mary's and #24 Adelphi before finishing up the bracket play with Chestnut Hill and Caldwell.

As the spring season begins, Nia Turner continues to front the charge, pacing the team in both average (171.12) and total pinfall (4,278). Second behind her is Aushia Mclean, who is knocking down 165 pins per match and 3,466 total while the lone freshman Kaylah Castillo rounds out the top-three averages (161.25). Mya Hamlett (157.48), and Jazzleen McRae (153.38) have both provided bright spots as well, and have continuously improved as the season has progressed.

You can follow each individual Coppin bowling match live on our Facebook page, Coppin State Sports. The tournament will take place all day Friday through Sunday. Friday and Saturday will consist of 5-game baker matches which will determine the seeding for Sunday's three-round tournament.
