BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech scored the first nine points of the game and got out to a 27-3 lead in a 74-42 win over Coppin State's men's basketball team in a sold out Cassell Coliseum Friday night.

First Half
- Virginia Tech scored the game's first nine points until a three by Kamar McKnight put Coppin State on the board at the 17:20 mark.
- The Hokies answered with a three on the ensuing possession and started a 18-0 run over the next 10:54 before a layup by Brendan Medley-Bacon.
- Virginia Tech extended the lead to as many as 28, but Coppin closed the half on a 7-2 run with Andrew Robinson accounting for five of the team's final seven points to make it a 35-12 score at the break.
Second Half
- Andrew Robinson scored the first five points of the period to cut the deficit to 35-17 with 17:56 left to play.
- Robinson had the team's first ten points of the half until Ibn Williams drained a three to pull Coppin within 42-25 at the 13:23 mark.
- That would be as close as Coppin would get the rest of the way as Virginia Tech led by as many as 33 points.
Inside the Numbers
- Andrew Robinson led Coppin with 15 points on 5-of-15 shooting and three 3-pointers to go with a game-high nine rebounds.
- Kamar McKnight was the next high scorer for the Eagles with six points while Jordan Hardwick finished with five.
- Dejuan Clayton chipped in with four points and four steals.
- Coppin made just 14-of-71 shots (19.7%) and 6-of-39 (15.4%) from downtown compared to 44.3% for the Hokies. Virginia Tech made 11 shots from deep and got 18 points from Nahiem Alleyne.
