BALTIMORE – Coppin State University and its Department of Athletics is mourning the loss of longtime athletics department staffer
Sandra Kirk who passed away on Wednesday, October 30 after a bout with cancer. Born June 5, 1953, Ms. Kirk served as the Athletics' Administrative Assistant since 2001.
Kirk returned to Coppin in July 2001 after working as a Special Assistant to Senator Ralph Hughes from 1993 to 1999. In her first stint at Coppin, Kirk was a library assistant in the Parlett L. Moore Library's circulation department.
She was also a member of Coppin's Coaches Against Cancer Committee as well as the Athletic Department's captain for Coppin's Family Capital Campaign while assisting in the planning and implementation of activities for both committees.
Kirk was nearing the completion of her psychology degree at Coppin before she passed.
Funeral arrangements will be announced when they are known.
