BALTIMORE – Coppin State's volleyball team outhit its crosstown rival, .196 to .193, but fell to Morgan State, 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 19-25, 25-20) on Tuesday night at Hill Field House.

First Set
- The teams were deadlocked nearly the entire set which featured 17 ties and nine lead changes.
- Coppin held a 22-20 lead after a kill from Christa Johnson but Morgan came back with two-straight to tie the score at 22-22.
- After ties at 23 and 24, the Bears took the frame on a kill and a service ace.
Second Set
- Morgan continued the momentum and raced out to a 5-0 lead to start the set.
- Coppin got no closer than three points the remainder of the way as the Bears took the game, 25-21.
Third Set
- Coppin outhit Morgan, .258 to .059 in the third and forced a fourth set with a 25-19 victory.
- With the set tied at 8-8, Coppin scored three-straight with a pair of blocks from Christa Johnson.
- The Bears clawed to within a single point at 18-17, but Coppin went on a 4-0 run to take a 22-17 lead and took the set, 25-19 on a pair of kills by Salma Gonzalez.
Fourth Set
- Coppin started the fourth set well, taking a 4-1 lead thanks to a pair of blocks by Salma Gonzalez, but after a timeout Morgan scored four-straight to go up 5-4.
- After ties at five, six and seven, the Bears scored three-straight points to take a 10-7 lead.
- Miajavon Coleman recorded a kill to cut the deficit to 10-8, but the Eagles got no closer the remainder of the way.
Inside the Numbers
- Coppin got double-doubles from Paola Caten (ten kills, 12 digs), Salma Gonzalez (ten kills, 12 digs) and Brianna Lang (41 assists, ten digs).
- Miajavon Coleman led the Eagles with 12 kills while Christa Johnson and Jordan Celestine chipped in with six kills apiece.
- Gonzalez and Johnson recorded five blocks each to lead all players as the Eagles recorded 11.0 total blocks compared to just 5.0 for the Bears.
- Lang also had three blocks while Celestine was credited with a pair.
- Ashley Roman led CSU with 17 digs, including nine in the fourth set.
