BALTIMORE – Miajavon Coleman recorded a match-high 19 kills and hit .444 to lead Coppin State's volleyball team to a 3-0 victory (25-13, 25-22, 25-23) over Norfolk State on Friday night at PEC Arena.

First Set
- Coppin dominated Norfolk in the first set, outhitting the Spartans, .321 to .040 as Miajavon Coleman recorded seven kills while Ashley Roman had seven digs on the defensive end. Brianna Lang also tallied four aces in the frame.
- With the score tied at 2-2, the Eagles scored three-straight points, with a pair of kills from Coleman, to go up 5-2.Â
- Norfolk cut the lead to just two points, but when CSU went up, 15-11, Norfolk called timeout and the Eagles outscored their guests, 10-2 the rest of the way.

Second Set
- Miajavon Coleman added another six kills in the second set to help Coppin lead by as many as 23-16.
- Norfolk attempted to make things interesting as they cut the deficit to 24-22, but Coleman put them away with another kill off a pass from Brianna Lang.

Third Set
- The final set featured seven ties and six lead changes but Coppin got the upperhand at the end as Miajavon Coleman recorded six kills on 12 swings with zero errors. Sydney Hicks added three kills without an error and Ashley Roman had another seven digs.
- Norfolk got out to an early, 4-1 lead and they led by as many as four points two different times.
- CSU fought back to tie the score at 18-18, but the Spartans scored back-to-back points to go up 20-18.
- After trading points, Brianna Lang notched a kill and Coleman threw down two more to put CSU up, 22-21 and a force a timeout.
- Coleman added another kill out of the break and the Eagles wrapped up the match on a kill by Lauryn Harrell and an NSU error.

Inside the Numbers
- Miajavon Coleman recorded 19 kills with just three errors to hit .444 and she also added eight digs which was second to Ashley Roman's match-high 18 digs.
- Jordan Celestine chipped in offensively with five kills while Sydney Hicks and Lauryn Harrell added four each. Christa Johnson and Paola Caten both had three kills on the night.
- Brianna Lang assisted on 33 of the team's 42 kills and quarterbacked the offense to a .364 hitting percentage. She also had five aces and six digs.
- Johnson and Celestine each had a pair of blocks with both of Johnson's coming on the solo variety.
- Coppin's seven MEAC victories this year are tied for the second-most in CSU single-season history and one off the school-record of eight set back in 2013 when they went 15-16 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
