SMYRNA, Del. – Coppin State's
Tatiana Ogundeko finished sixth overall in a personal record 18:59.19 at the MEAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center. As a team, the Eagles finished seventh of ten schools, beating out North Carolina Central, Delaware State and South Carolina State.
A senior from Waldorf, Md., Ogundeko shaved ten seconds off her overall PR and 19 seconds from her personal record on the DSU Championship course. Ogundeko's sixth place finish grants her First Team All-MEAC honors as she edged out NC Central's Ashley Jean-Raymond by a second down the stretch.
Kamillah Monroque took second for Coppin, placing 22
nd overall in 20:25.68 which was over a minute faster than she ran at the same course two weeks ago. In third for the Eagles was
Claudina Constantine in 22:41.78, which was good for 41
st place. Monroque and Constantine were running just their second meets of the season.
Rounding out the top five for the Eagles were
Janee Quailes (45
th, 23:31.49) and
Cathryn Lane (47
th, 23:41.80). Lane's time was a personal record by over a minute and a half which came two weeks ago on the same course.
Also competing for CSU was
Kimani Alphonse who took 54
th in a season-best 24:59.58.
