DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Freshman
Paola Caten (Tampa, Fla.) and sophomore
Miajavon Coleman (San Antonio, Texas) both notched double-doubles with an identical 11 kills and 11 digs in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-19) victory at MEAC rival Bethune-Cookman Sunday afternoon at Moore Gymnasium.

First Set
- Both teams battled for position early on but Bethune-Cookman turned a 9-6 deficit into a 13-9 lead with a 7-0 run.
- Coppin began a rally with a kill by Lauryn Harrell and an ace by Rebekka Hauri, but the Wildcats got those points back with two-straight kills to make it a 15-11 ballgame.
- After a kill from Miajavon Coleman made it a 16-12 score, Coppin went on a 5-0 run to go up 17-16 with a kill from Salma Gonzalez as well as a kill and a block from Christa Johnson.
- The hosts then went on a 3-0 run to go up 19-17 but Paola Caten sparked a 4-0 run with a pair of kills to put CSU back on top, 21-19.
- After trading points, Coppin closed out the frame, 25-21 with three-straight points on kills by Harrell and Coleman sandwiching a Bethune error.
Second Set
- Tied at 15-15 after a few lead changes and ties, Coppin went on a 4-0 run with three kills off the hand of Paola Caten.
- Bethune called a timeout and responded with a kill but Caten spiked home another kill and also served up an ace to put CSU on top, 21-16.
- After an error, Brianna Lang started getting into it offensively from the setter spot with a pair of kills and after recording an ace, the Eagles took the set, 25-18 on a Wildcats error.
Third Set
- Coppin got out to a 4-1 lead with kills coming from Miajavon Coleman, Salma Gonzalez and Christa Johnson.
- Bethune battled back to an 8-7 deficit but Coppin went on an 8-2 run to make it a 16-9 score with the help of five Wildcats errors.
- After trading multiple points, Coppin scored three-straight as kills from Coleman and Paola Caten bounded a block from Coleman and Jordan Celestine to make it a 22-14 score.
- CSU even took the set, and the match, 25-19 as it closed it out with kills from Coleman, Brianna Lang and Johnson.
Inside the Numbers
- Paola Caten continued her impressive play by notching her first career double-double, leading Coppin with 11 kills and 11 digs while adding a block and two aces. The Tampa, Fla., native also hit .308 on 26 swings.
- Miajavon Coleman matched Caten with 11 kills and 11 digs for a double-double and added a block and two aces.
- Christa Johnson hit well from her middle position with seven kills and a .375 hitting percentage while recording a match-high three blocks.
- Salma Gonzalez also pitched in on the offensive end with five kills while Brianna Lang assisted on 36 of the team's 44 kills along with four of her own.
- Ashley Roman was credited with 11 digs in the back row as Coppin outhit Bethune-Cookman, .218 to .113.
- A key component to Coppin's victory was on the serve receive as they held the Wildcats without a service ace.
- This was CSU's first victory on the road against Bethune-Cookman.
