Miajavon Coleman recorded a double-double 15 kills and 10 digs in a three-set (25-15, 25-17, 26-24) victory over MEAC rival Norfolk State on Friday night at Gill Gymnasium

First Set
- Both teams battled for position early on but after Norfolk tied the score at 6-6, Coppin ran off five-straight points, two of which came on kills by Miajavon Coleman, to take an 11-6 lead.
- The Spartans battled back to tie the score at 13-13, but Coppin closed the set on a 12-2 run to take the opener, 25-15.
Second Set
- The second set began nearly identical to how the first set ended as Coppin ran out to a 12-2 lead. CSU scored the first seven points of the frame as Miajavon Coleman recorded a pair of kills and a block.
- Norfolk finally got on the board with a kill, but Salma Gonzalez answered with a pair of kills to get the lead back to 9-1.
- With Coppin leading, 12-2, Norfolk called a timeout and got as close as 18-15.
- After an NSU error, the Eagles got a kill and a block from Sydney Hicks and pulled away for a 25-17 win.
Third Set
- The teams traded small leads throughout the set but with the score tied at 21-21, Norfolk scored two-straight to force a Coppin timeout at 23-21.
- NSU got an ace out of the break to force a set point but Coppin tied the score at 24-24 with a kill by Salma Gonzalez, a solo block by Lauryn Harrell and a kill by Paola Caten.
- Norfolk called a timeout but Caten finished the match with a block and a kill.
Inside the Numbers
- Miajavon Coleman led all players with 15 kills while hitting .462 along with a team-high ten digs for a double-double. The sophomore from San Antonio, Texas also had a pair of blocks.
- Salma Gonzalez continued her hot hitting in mEAC play with nine kills and was followed by Sydney Hicks with six and Paola Caten with an errorless four kills.
- Brianna Lang assisted on 35 of the team's 42 kills and had three kills herself along with eight digs. Lang quarterbacked the offense to a .286 hitting percentage.
- Defensively, Lauryn Harrell and Christa Johnson each had three blocks and Ashley Roman was credited with 11 digs.
- Coppin has now won six-straight matches against Norfolk State, its longest winning streak in the series history with the Spartans.
