SMYRNA, Del. – Tatiana Ogundeko won the DSU Alumni XC Invite in a time of 19:18.2 on Friday afternoon at the Delaware State Outreach & Research Center. It was the second meet this season that Ogundeko has took the individual crown, both coming on the DSU course.
A senior from Waldorf, Md., Ogundeko bested the next closest competitor by 25 seconds and her time shaved 26 seconds off her personal record on the course which was set at the DSU Hornet Invite on September 7.
The next two Eagles to finish were competitors making their CSU debuts in
Kamillah Monroque and junior
Claudina Constantine. A sophomore from Castries, St. Lucia, Monroque finished 11
th in 21:34.11, just ahead of Constantine, a Soufriere, St. Lucia native, who took 15
th in 22:13.4.
Rounding out the finishers for Coppin was
Janee Quailes (20
th, 22:55),
Cathryn Lane (25
th, 25:12) and
Destinee Mcloud (26
th, 25:16.7). All three times were personal records.
As a team, the Eagles finished fourth of five schools, placing ahead of MEAC rival Delaware State and just shy of Maryland Eastern Shore for third.
Coppin wraps up the cross country season at the same DSU course at the MEAC Championships on Saturday, October 26.
