BALTIMORE, Md. – Coppin State head softball coach
Gino Olivieri has announced that
Lexi Flom and
Melena Gebur have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Eagles in the 2019 season. With two more signees, Coppin now has six incoming freshman for next season.
A 5-foot-7 pitcher/utility player from Las Vegas, Nev., Flom has played all over the diamond in her years at Arbor View High School. Flom plays club ball at 18U LV Blast and is a terrific student.
"Lexi is a fantastic athlete who can play just about anywhere but really stands out at third base and pitcher," said Olivieri. "She is quick with a strong arm at third, and as a pitcher uses all five pitches effectively while hitting her spots. At the plate, Lexi brings in line drive power with excellent speed on the base paths.
Standing 5-foot-6, Gebur is a native of Montebello, Calif., where she plays at Warren High School, the same school that produced current Eagles player
Megan Narvaez. Gebur is a three-time Scholar-Athlete recipient who plays club for OC Strikeforce.
"Melena is very athletic and will bring speed and quickness to the outfield. At the plate, she has tremendous bat speed with line drive power."
