Turner Finishes In Top 15, Helps Bowling Take 9th At Virginia Union Invite

GLEN ALLEN, Va. – Junior Nia Turner placed 14 out of 123 bowlers while helping the Lady Eagles upset #13 Sacred Heart at the Virginia Union Invitational this past weekend. The bowling team finished in the top half of the bracket, capturing ninth place.

To go along with toppling the Pioneers, CSU defeated New Jersey City (858 – 715), and Chestnut Hill (1,169 – 1,101), while picking up the team's first MEAC win of the season over Morgan State in the process (1,190 – 1,142).

The final standings were determined in a three-round tournament on Sunday, with Coppin State earning a #10 seed. The Eagles would fall to Chestnut Hill, before defeating Morgan State and winning the rematch with Chestnut Hill to climb one spot to ninth.

Turner led the Lady Eagles with an average of 184.80 while Kaylah Castillo was second on the squad with an 168.60 average to go with a top-40 finish.

Aushia McLean (165.40), Mya Hamlett (147.80), and Kaylin Hobson (136) rounded out the Eagles performers over the weekend.

The Eagles will prepare for its first MEAC Meet of the season, as it heads to Wilmington, Delaware on November 10-11.
