CSU Volleyball Wraps Up Home Slate Against Norfolk State and Howard

BALTIMORE, Md. – Coppin State volleyball will conclude its seven-game home stand this weekend when it faces Norfolk State for Senior Night on Friday, before hosting the three-time defending MEAC champs to end the home portion of the schedule.
 
What You Need to Know Coppin Contributors
  • Miajavon Coleman has been a mainstay on the MEAC leader boards, as she is fifth in points per set (3.78) and kills per set (3.55), while currently eighth in hitting percentage (.237).
  • When only counting MEAC contests, Coleman's star shines even brighter, as she is tops in the conference with 4.63 kills per set (0.52 ahead of second place) as well as second in points per set (4.79).
  • Outside hitter Asia Stennis has been Coleman's accomplice when it comes to kills and points, as she currently sits inside the top ten in kills per set (2.72) and points per set (3.02).
  • Brianna Lang places herself inside the top three of the MEAC in assists per set (8.59) as well as top three during conference play (9.26).
  • Freshman Chelsie Kolibar has been on the edge of the conference leaders for the majority of the 2018 season, as she is tenth in digs per set (2.89).
  • Aislynn Weaver is the best server for the Lady Eagles, as she leads the team with 18 aces.
  • Christa Johnson paces Coppin with 61.0 blocks. Jordan Celestine slots in second at 49.0.
Scouting the Norfolk State Spartans
  • The Spartans are having a difficult time finding wins this year, as it has dropped 13 of 15 contests, with its only two victories coming against South Carolina State and Delaware State.
  • Norfolk's biggest strength is behind the service line, as it ranks inside the top-60 nationally in team aces per set (1.50).
  • Halley McKnight is the best of the strong group of servers, as she's tied for first in the MEAC in aces per set at 0.41.
  • Serbian middle blocker Bojana Bolozan has been a thorn in the sides of her opponents during the conference slate, perching herself atop the leader board with a .408 hitting percentage and blocking the seventh most attempts per set at 0.81.
  • Anna Rupertova has been the rock on both offense and defense for NSU, as she's the team's top performer in kills (109) and digs (102).
Scouting the Howard Bison
  • Howard has continued to steamroll the competition in MEAC play, winning 15 of its 17 sets against the MEAC North and sporting an unblemished 5-0 mark.
  • HU has thrived as a team in 2018, leading the conference in assists per set (11.49) and kills per set (12.71), to go along with being the runner-up in hitting percentage (.209) and opponents hitting percentage (.174).
  • Bison players make up two of the league's top performers as Kia Porter leads the way with an .322 hitting percentage, while Libero Fola Wilson paces the MEAC in digs per set (4.50).
  • Jurnee Tipton is the primary offensive threat for Howard, well ahead of her fellow Bison at 3.46 points per set and 3.17 kills per set.
  • Four-time MEAC Setter of the Week Tamia Dockery has been a steady contributor trailing only Morgan State's Roi Wallace in assists per set (10.04) in the MEAC.
