BALTIMORE – Cherisse Atilano put up a season-high 19 kills with 13 digs, but Coppin State's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 (23-25, 20-25, 25-18, 25-22, 17-15) decision to Morgan State on Friday night at PEC Arena.  The Eagles fell to 15-7 overall and 6-1 in the MEAC while the Bears improved to 6-13 on the year and 5-2 in league play.
 
Atilano led all players in kills while hitting .224 while her 13 digs helped her post her sixth double-double of the season. Ivanna Luna was also in double figures with 12 kills, followed by Rori Gray and Eva Rovello with seven kills apiece while combining to hit .480. Rovello's seven kills were also a season high as she hit .636 with no error on 11 swings.
 
Deviana Walker chipped in with six kills in three sets, Pamela De Jesus Tejedor pitched in with four, and middles Kendall Minta and McKenzie Parks combined for five kills.  Minta led CSU with four blocks.
 
Rovello posted a double-double with 45 assists and 16 digs to go with two aces and two blocks as Coppin narrowly outhit Morgan, .185 to .167. She was second to Coco Figueroa's 25 digs and Figueroa assisted on seven kills. Karina Diaz was credited with a season-high 12 digs and De Jesus totaled seven.
 
Coppin held a 60-55 advantage in kills, but the Bears totaled 17 blocks to the Eagles' seven.  Morgan took advantage of 15 CSU service errors while serving ten aces themselves.
 
The Eagles will look to get back on track when they host Norfolk State in a 1 pm matchup on Sunday, October 18.
