GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three Eagles reached double figures in scoring but the Coppin State men's basketball team dropped a MEAC contest at North Carolina A&T, 60-47, on Monday night at Corbett Sports Center. The Eagles now stand at 1-19 on the year with a 1-4 record in the MEAC while the Aggies improve to 10-8 with a 3-0 mark in conference play.
Coppin led a few times early in the game and last led, 10-9 on a jumper by
Chad Andrews-Fulton with 12:47 left in the first. From there, North Carolina A&T scored six-straight points to lead 15-10, and outscored Coppin by a single point the rest of the half to take a 27-21 lead into the break.
A&T quickly extended its lead in the second half to double figures and the deficit remained in double figures the remainder of the way.
Karonn Davis led Coppin with 11 points and four assists to go with five rebounds while
Adam Traore added ten points and a game-high eight rebounds.
Kent Auslander chipped in with a career-high ten points and
Lucian Brownlee pitched in with six off the bench.
The Aggies outshot the Eagles, 35.8 percent to 30.9% and made 16-of-19 shots from the line compared to just 6-of-12 for Coppin.
The Navy & Gold will return home for three-straight games, starting with crosstown rival Morgan State on Saturday, January 20 in a 4 pm tipoff.
