Glorines Rosado named to Crosstown Invitational Tournament Team

BETHLEHEM, PA - Senior libero Glorines Rosado was named to the Crosstown Invitational Tournament hosted by Lehigh University this weekend after racking up 34 digs and three service aces in three matches. The Lady Eagles dropped matches to Marist College 3-0 (22-25, 14-25, 18-25) and Lehigh University 3-0 (15-25, 17-25, 21-25) yesterday to conclude their opening weekend of matches.  Coppin falls to 0-3 and looks for it's first win next weekend in Pittsburgh.

In the first set against Marist, Coppin jumped to a quick 6-2 lead after taking advantage of a number of attack errors and a service ace by Marlena Guice.  With the score 9-7 in Coppin's favor, Marist went on a four point run to take the lead 9-11.  Coppin would not regain the lead that set as Marist went on a 12-6 scoring run padding their lead 23-15. Coppin would mount a late rally scoring seven straight points capped off by a Bailee Jackson kill from Jennifer Gell. Down 22-23, Marist would close out the set by scoring the final two points.  Marist would run away in the second set by beating Coppin 17-25.  The third set saw Coppin battle back from a 6-3 deficit to take a 12-8 lead. The Eagles would last hold the lead up 14-12 before Marist would go on a 5 point run to keep the lead and eventually the match, 18-25.

Against Lehigh, Coppin would tie the score five times in the first set and three times in the second, but could not string together enough points to take either one. Coppin would fall 15-25 and 17-25 in the first two sets.  In the third set, Coppin would push Lehigh to the brink. Down 1-3, Dominique Madarang would setup Asia Stennis and Angel Jamerson for kills to place Coppin in the lead 5-3.  Lehigh would then go on a five point run before Madarang would again setup Jamerson and Guice to pull the Lady Eagles within one, 7-8. After another Lehigh run and pushing the lead 7-12, Coppin would outscore Lehigh 8 to 4 and pull within one (15-16).  Coppin would pull within one point three more times before tying the score at 21 after a block by Stennis and Christa Johnson.  Lehigh would stop Coppin's momentum after a timeout and would score the final four points to win 21-25.

The Lady Eagles return to action next week when they travel to Pittsburgh to play in the Duquesne/ Robert Morris Invitational.  The Lady Eagles will face Canisius College and Duquesne University on Friday, September 1 and Robert Morris on September 2.
