HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. – Coppin State University's men's basketball team dropped to 0-3 on the yeas they were bested by 12
th-ranked Cincinnati, 97-54 on Thursday night at BB&T Arena on the campus of Northern Kentucky University.
Receiving his first start of the year, graduate student
Karonn Davis led Coppin State with a season-high ten points while
Dejuan Clayton and
Tre' Thomas added nine points apiece. Juniors
Adam Traore and
Lamar Morgan also chipped in with eight points each.
Cincinnati (3-0) scored the first seven points of the game and extended its lead to 18-2 before
Chad Andrews-Fulton scored on a putback layup with 15:48 left in the first half. The rebound was one of Andrews-Fulton's team-high seven rebounds on the night.
The Bearcats led by as many as 32 points in the first and went into the break with a 55-26 lead after shooting 50% from the floor compared to just 31.7% for the Eagles.
Cincinnati then shot 52% from the field in the second and made 21-of-36 free throws for the game while Coppin made all 12 of its shots from the charity stripe.
Five Bearcats reach double figures in scoring, led by
Jarron Cumberland with 19 points and nine rebounds.
The Eagles will be right back on the hardwood tomorrow night as they make the short drive northeast to Cleveland State for a 7 pm tipoff on Friday, November 17.
