BALTIMORE, Md. – Coppin State University's volleyball team dropped its final home match of the season to Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference rival Hampton University, 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-13) on Sunday afternoon at the PEC Auxiliary Gym.
The Eagles (3-23, 3-6 MEAC) hit .128 on the day and were led by
Bailee Jackson who notched nine kills while
Asia Stennis finished with six.
Dominique Madarang and
Angel Jamerson assisted on 12 and ten kills, respectively.
Defensively,
Glorines Rosado led the squad with seven digs and also contributed with three services aces.
Christa Johnson led Coppin with four blocks.
Coppin led early on in the opening set, scoring the first four points of the match with a pair of aces by Rosado and two kills by Jackson. The Eagles maintained the led until midway through the frame but Hampton was able to tie the match at 14 before eventually going on a 5-0 run to take a 21-17 advantage which sealed the win.
The second set traded points the first couple rallies but a five point run followed by a seven point run gave the Pirates an insurmountable lead.
Hampton (10-15, 5-4 MEAC), which had three players record double-digit kills led the third set from the start.
Next up for Coppin State is a pivotal MEAC matchup at Delaware State on Friday, November 3 at 7 pm.
