HAMPTON, Va. – Junior Olowaseun Adeniji scored a career-high 11 points and grabbed a team-high six rebounds in a 78-54 road MEAC loss for the Eagles to Hampton University on Monday, January 30
th in the HU Convocation Center.
Coppin State falls to 4-16 overall and 4-4 in conference play. Hampton improves to 13-7 overall and 7-0 in the MEAC.
Two Eagles finished in double figure scoring paced by red-shirt junior
Genesis Lucas. Lucas had a team-high 13 points, three assists and three rebounds. Lucas went 2-for-3 from three-point range and 5-for-8 from the free-throw line. Adeniji led the bench scoring with a career-night scoring 11 points on 4-of-7 shots from the field and three free-throws. She was key for the Eagles in the first half with a team-high six points.

Mia Crooms posted a season-high seven points while freshmen
Oluwadamilola Oloyede tied a season-high with four points and three rebounds.
Senior
Keena Samuels recorded a perfect 5-for-5 made free-throws against the Pirates scoring eight points. Graduate
Tiara Goode led the defense with a season-high two blocks and scored six points. The Eagles had a difficult opening quarter as Hampton jumped out to a 23-6 advantage. The early double-digit deficit was too much for the Eagles to overcome against the top team in the MEAC. Lucas had a strong second half with all of her 13 points as the Eagles outscored the Pirates 35-30.
Hampton's aggressive offense resulted in 45 free-throw attempts where they made 29 notching a new Coppin State opponent season-highs. The Pirates also shot 43-percent from three-point range (7-16) which was the second highest total for an opponent.
Coppin State continues their two game road trip with a Saturday afternoon matchup in Princess Anne, MD against Maryland Eastern Shore on February 4th at 2 p.m. The Eagles lead the all-time series against the Hawks 35-26.
