PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Junior
Glorines Rosado collected a season-best 21 digs reaching 400 career total as an Eagle in a 3-0 (25-20, 25-9, 25-11) loss to Duquesne on Friday, September 2 in the Palumbo Center.
Duquesne (3-2) dominated the match sweeping Coppin State (0-4) in straight-sets opening the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational. The Eagles committed 27 errors and had a difficult time on the attack combining for only ten team kills in the final two sets.
Coppin State came out strong with 11 kills in the opening set. Junior
Bailee Jackson had four kills on seven attempts and junior
Guro Froberg had three also on seven attempts. CSU played under control with only four errors and a .206 attack percentage, but the Dukes exploded for 18 kills on a .368 attack percentage taking the set 25-20.
In the next two sets Duquesne held on to the momentum at home while Coppin State struggled with double digit errors. Coppin's
Glorines Rosado held the defense together with seven digs in the first set, nine in the second set and five in the third racking up a season-best performance.
Bailee Jackson, freshman
Asia Stennis, and
Guro Froberg all had five kills against the Dukes. Jackson added four digs while Stennis had three digs supporting Rosado. Freshman
Dominique Madarang paced CSU with 27 assists and junior
Jennifer Gell recorded three digs and a service ace.
For Rosado this game notched her sixth 20+ dig game of her career and first of the season. She tallied 21 leading the defensive charge for Coppin State and now has a career total of 400 digs.
The Eagles take on Bucknell later on today at 7:00 p.m. in their next match of the Duquesne/Robert Morris Invitational.
