MOREHEAD, Ky. – Coppin State's women's volleyball team was swept 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-21) by Montana on Friday, Sept. 16 in Wetherby Gym.
Coppin State posted their third highest attack percentage of season (.157) with 30 kills on 89 attempts versus the Grizzlies. All three sets were close between the squads, but Montana found a way to straight sweep Coppin State.
Junior
Guro Froberg recorded a season best attack percentage of .350 on nine of 20 attempts at the net. Froberg and junior
Bailee Jackson both had nine kills apiece, freshman
Asia Stennis contributed four kills while Junior
Valiyah Barnes and freshman
Kennedy Curtis both had three kills.
The Eagles offense was paced by freshman
Dominique Madarang's 26 assists. Madarang added five digs and two kills reaching 20+ assists for the eighth time this season. Coppin State's defense collected 36 digs led by junior
Glorines Rosado. Rosado finished with nine, Froberg had seven digs and three others finished with five.
CSU held a 5-4 advantage in team blocks over Montana. Barnes tied a season-high with three assisted blocks and Curtis had the only solo block of the match.
Their next match is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 17 at 11:30 a.m. versus Kent State in the Comfort Inn-Vitational hosted by Morehead State.
