WILLIAMSBURG, Va.  – A trio of Eagles reached double figure digs in a straight-set sweep by William & Mary on Saturday, Sept. 10 in Kaplan Arena.
Setter 
Dominique Madarang was named to the Colonial Volleyball Classic All-Tournament Team representing Coppin State. She finished the weekend with 49 assists averaging 6.12 per set including 22 against Charlotte. On the defensive side she had 23 digs in eight sets played.
The Eagles came out with a strong effort in set one against the Tribe. Coppin State tallied nine first set kills led by junior 
Bailee Jackson. Jackson posted four kills and five digs early on while freshman 
Angel Jamerson contributed three kills and freshman 
Asia Stennis had a pair of kills with four digs. William & Mary's offense finished with 17 kills on a .310 attack percentage taking set one (25-19).
In the next set, Jackson kept the momentum going with seven digs and three kills. The Eagles won the defensive battle over the Tribe on digs (24-20), but gave up ten kills in a 25-14 defeat. Junior 
Glorines Rosado followed Jackson with six digs in the set and Stennis had five. William & Mary held Coppin State to only seven team kills and forced them into ten team errors.
The Tribe breezed through set three with a score of 25-9. Coppin State was paced by Stennis' three kills and Rosado's four digs. The Tribe held the Eagles to five kills and had 14 of their own sweeping the match (3-0).
Three Eagles collected double figure digs as Jackson and Rosado both finished with 15. Stennis was the other with ten digs while freshman 
Dominique Madarang had eight with a team-high 18 assists. Rosado added three service aces as the Eagles netted five total. 
Angel Jamerson had a season-high four kills while freshman 
Christa Johnson also recorded a season-best two kills
Coppin State (0-11) heads to the Morehead State Invitational for their next match on Sept. 16-17. Their first match is against host Morehead State at 11 a.m. on Friday.
