Countdown Close-Up - 9 Days - #9 Marlena Guice

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Coppin State University women's volleyball team is in their second week of preseason activities, prepping for the season opener which looms just nine days away. The Eagles venture to Annapolis for the U.S. Naval Academy Kristen Dickman Invitational to begin the 2016 campaign with three-match non-conference matches against the Mids, Delaware and New Hampshire (August 26-27).
 
Marlena Guice, a sophomore outside hitter, wears the No. 9 jersey and CoppinStateSports.com caught up with her for a few questions in the first entry of a "Countdown Close-Up" series in anticipation of the upcoming season.

Why Did You Choose Coppin State:
The campus made me feel at home and the players were nice.
 
Guice played in seven matches and 19 sets during her first season as an Eagle in 2015. She recorded 20 kills, 23 digs, and three blocks before suffering a season-ending injury on September 19. In her first collegiate contest she delivered nine kills with 11 digs against Manhattan.
