McIlwain's Four Hits Lifts Eagles to 15-8 Win Over UMES

Coppin State (10-32, 7-12) tied a season-high with 17 hits against the Hawks of Maryland Eastern Shore (13-28, 5-13) snapping a nine game losing streak defeating UMES, 15-8.

The Eagles also recorded season-highs with five stolen bases and 45 at bats. CSU freshman Nazier McIlwain went 4-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI.

Senior George Dragon had three hits with four RBIs and two runs scored. Senior Darien Percell finished with two hits along with junior Bryant Miranda.

Starting pitcher for the Eagles freshman Krystian Negron (4-4) picked up the victory tossing eight innings striking out six batters, walking one, and allowed six earned runs.

The Eagles and Hawks will continue their MEAC three game series with a double header slated for 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 30th at Hawk Stadium in Princess, Anne, Md.
