ABOUT THE EAGLES
  • The Eagles have gone 5-17, including a 3-6 mark in MEAC, and have seven regular-season games remaining … Coppin State are 0-2 in the month of February after facing a pair of MEAC opponents on the road … Last month in January, CSU went 3-2 with key road wins against Bethune Cookman and Florida A&M … In November they won back-to-back games against Division II opponents Goldey-Beacom and Chestnut Hill.
  • Coppin State loss three straight MEAC games after winning three in a row… Junior guard Christian Kessee leads all Coppin players in scoring (13.1 ppg), field goals made (94), 3-Point FG made (54), free throw percentage (81%), and in minutes (30.0 ppg). Kessee has made six three pointers twice this season; vs. UMES (1/30/16) and at SCSU (2/6/16).
  • On Saturday the Eagles dropped their third road MEAC game with a five point loss to South Carolina State on the road (88-83) … Chrisitan Kessee led four Eagles in double figure scoring with a career-best 27 points on 10-of-15 made field goals including 6-of-9 made three pointers against the Bulldogs.

COPPIN STATE TAKES ON SAVANNAH STATE
  • Coppin State travels to Savannah, Ga. this Monday night (8:00 pm, ET) for a meeting with the Savannah State Tigers… the Eagles have never beaten the Tigers in four meetings. Last year the Eagles fell 73-70 on February 9, 2015.
 
MOST RECENTLY
  • Coppin State recorded a season-best shot percentage from the field (.429) in a 88-83 loss at South Carolina State. The Eagles made 29 field goals which was the second best outing of the season.
  • The Eagles backcourt of junior guards Christian Kessee and Trevon Seymore combined for 34 of 46 second half points against South Carolina State. Kessee netted a career-high 27 points on 10 made field goals including six made from three point range. Seymore recorded a season-high nine rebounds and attempted nine free throws against SCSU.
  • Coppin State forced the Bulldogs into 18 turnovers that led to 19 points on offense. Junior guard Keith Shivers had three steals with ten points.
 
ABOUT SAVANNAH STATE
  • Savannah State picked up a 57-49 win at home against Morgan State on Saturday. The Tigers enter this week ranked seventh in the MEAC standings (4-6).  Savannah state,under the guidance of tenth year head coach Horace Broadnax, have gone  8-13 this season  with MEAC wins against Morgan State, Delaware State, Maryland Eastern Shore, and North Carolina A&T. Two are scoring in double figures led by Troyce Manassa. Manassa is averaging 13.0 ppg.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE EAGLES
  • Coppin State returns to the PEC Arena for three consecutive home games on Saturday, Feb. 13th against Howard at 4:00 p.m. Then the Eagles host Delaware State on Monday, Feb. 15th at 7:30 p.m. before tangling with North Carolina Central on Thursday, Feb. 18th in a makeup game from late January.
