  • The Eagles have gone 5-16, including a 3-5 mark in MEAC, and have eight regular-season games remaining … Coppin State went 3-2 in the month of January with key road wins against Bethune Cookman and Florida A&M … In November they won back-to-back games against Division II opponents Goldey-Beacom and Chestnut Hill.

EAGLES TO FACE BULLDOGS
  • Coppin State will play at South Carolina State this Saturday afternoon (4:00 pm, ET) … the Eagles won the last seven meetings against the Bulldogs, including a 77-74 win last season at home on February 7, 2015.
  • The Eagles are 12-13 when playing in Orangeburg, S.C. but won the last two meetings in the SHM Memorial Center. Coppin won 82-61 on January 9, 2012 … in the all-time series, Coppin State leads the series 31-27.
MOST RECENTLY
  • Coppin took on rival Morgan State last Monday and suffered their worst loss of the season, 83-43. No players scored in double figures but Terry Harris, Jr. tallied ten rebounds. Christian Kessee had a team-best nine points, while Keith Shivers and Izais Hicks each scored seven points. All 13 Eagles got playing time in the lop-sided loss.
  • Morgan State held Coppin State to 27% shooting from the field and 18% from three point range. The Eagles shot 18% at the free throw line and was forced into 15 turnovers.
  • Terry Harris, Jr. had his ninth game with ten or more rebounds. 
 
ABOUT SOUTH CAROLINA STATE
  • South Carolina State defeated Delaware State, 56-41, last Saturday on the road. South Carolina State enters this weekend ranked second in the MEAC standings (7-2). The Bulldogs, under the guidance of third year head coach Murray Garvin, have gone 12-11 this season with road wins at Delaware State, Hampton, Norfolk State, Florida A&M, and Miami (Ohio). Three are scoring in double figures led by Eric Eaves (16.5 ppg), Ed Stephens (13.4 ppg), and Gabriel McCray (11.0 ppg). Eaves ranks 6th in MEAC scoring.
 
WHAT'S DOWN THE ROAD
  • Coppin State heads to Savannah, Ga. on Monday, Feb. 8 for their sixth road MEAC game of the season with a matchup against Savannah State. The Tigers have won all four meetings in the all-time series against the Eagles. Last season, Coppin loss at home 73-70 on February 9, 2015.
