Coppin State Hosts Goldey-Beacom Lightning on Thursday

BALTIMORE, MD. – Coppin State (0-12) faces Goldey-Beacom (7-2) on Thursday evening in the Physical Education Complex. Game time is 7:30 p.m. (ET). Coppin State's game will have a video stream, live stats as well as a radio broadcast that can all be found on the coppinstatesports.com website. The Eagles are seeking their first win of the season to avoid their 12th consecutive loss, which would mark the program's longest losing streak starting a season.

THURSDAY'S MATCHUP
Coppin State hosts Goldey-Beacom on Thursday evening (7:30 p.m. ET) in the Physical Education Complex, marking the third contest in the all-time series between these programs. The Eagles won the last meeting against the Lightning, 80-73, on Nov. 18, 2015 in the PEC. Thursday night's game will mark the Eagles third-to-final non-conference game, as Coppin State is set to close non-conference play against Louisiana at Monroe next Tuesday and Mount St. Mary's on Thursday, Dec. 22.
                SERIES AT A GLANCE: Coppin State won both meetings against Goldey-Beacom in the all-time series. In the first ever meeting (Dec. 1, 2014) the Eagles picked up a 103-50 win, which was the last time Coppin State scored 100+ points. Terry Harris Jr. led CSU in their last meeting with a double-double scoring 26 points (going 12-of-20 from the field) and ten rebounds. Joshua Treadwell added ten points (going 6-for-6 from the free-throw line).
 
BUFFALO TOPS EAGLES
  • Buffalo shot 50% from both the field and from three-point range in an 87-52 victory over Coppin State. The Eagles gave up a season-high percentage from three-point land as the Bulls connected on 15 from behind the arc.
  • Two Eagles finished in double figure scoring with junior guard Tre' Thomas and freshman guard Dejuan Clayton both scoring 13 points each. Clayton made a season-high three shots from long range and dished out a team-best three assists. Thomas led the starters with five made field goals while tying a season-high with two assists and his first block of the season. Junior forward Blake Simpson grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds notching his fourth career double-digit rebound game as an Eagle.

  • The Eagles play their second home game of the season against their second NCAA Division II opponent, Chestnut Hill upset the Eagles 76-73 in the home opener on Nov. 28.
  • Coppin State has opened the season with 12 consecutive losses, matching their worst start to a season since 2005-06, when the Eagles began 0-12 but finished strong in MEAC play going 12-6.
  • The Eagles had a 12 game losing streak last season from Dec. 3 to Jan. 17. The streak ended with a road MEAC win at Florida A&M on Jan. 19 (87-75). The Eagles previously recorded 12 consecutive losses in the 2009-10 season as well as Grant's first year back in 2014-15. CSU will face Louisiana at Monroe on Tuesday, Dec. 20, in their third home game of the season. The game time is set for 2 p.m. ET. This will be the first ever meeting between the teams. ULM (4-5) won their last two games and travels to Northwestern State on Sat. Dec. 17 before their trip to Baltimore.

Goldey-Beacom has gone 7-2, most recently defeating Pace 90-63, on Monday, Dec. 12.
