PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Coppin State volleyball went down in straight-sets to the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (25-15, 25-11, 25-14) on Sunday, October 9 in the Hytche Center. Freshman setter
Dominique Madarang finished with 14 digs and 14 assists marking her sixth double-double of the year.
Coppin State drops to a 1-18 overall record and 1-4 in MEAC play while Maryland Eastern Shore moves to 11-10 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
In the first set the Eagles were off to a slow start offensively with only seven kills for a .088 hitting percentage. Freshman

Guro Froberg both had three kills in the set while
Dominique Madarang has six assists. Maryland Eastern Shore came up with a 25-15 win off of 14 kills and a .235 attack percentage. The Hawks had a solid defensive outing collecting 21 digs to only 12 by the Eagles. Both Froberg and Madarang had four digs in the first set for CSU.
Maryland Eastern Shore dominated set two holding the Eagles to only eight kills winning 25-11. UMES rallied off 16 kills for a .438 attack percentage and scored on three team blocks. Freshman
Christa Johnson had a productive set with three kills leading the Eagles. Madarang led the CSU defense with eight digs.
Froberg anchored the Eagles offense in set three with four kills, but Maryland Eastern Shore forced seven errors and swept the match with a 25-14 victory. Coppin State attacked the net with two team blocks by junior
Valiyah Barnes and Madarang. Junior
Glorines Rosado had four digs in the set and Lougheed recorded a pair of service aces.
The Eagles registered their third highest block total of the season with six against the Hawks.
Jasmine Lougheed finished with a season-high three solo blocks and two service aces.
Valiyah Barnes added two assisted blocks and a solo.
Guro Froberg was the only Eagle to net double-figure kills finishing with ten (.286 attack %). This was her sixth 10+ kill match of the season and her second in a row.
Glorines Rosado totaled nine digs, Froberg added five and
Christa Johnson finished with a season-high five kills on 13 total attacks.
Dominique Madarang had a great afternoon with 15 digs and 14 assists. She has double figure assists in nine consecutive matches played. On the defensive side she reached double figure digs for the sixth time this season while notching her sixth double-double of the year in the setback to Maryland Eastern Shore.
The Eagles wrap up a four game MEAC road skid on Friday, October 14
th against rival Morgan State University at 7 p.m.
