BALTIMORE, Md. – After Coppin State took an early lead Maryland Eastern Shore battled back and won the final three sets defeating the Eagles 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-19) on Sunday, Oct. 30 inside the PEC Auxiliary Gym. Freshman
Jasmine Lougheed notched her third double figure kill match of the season finishing with ten against the Hawks.
Lougheed began the match with seven kills in the first set anchoring the Eagles to a 25-23 victory. Lougheed finished 7-of-8 on her attacks in the set and also had an ace. Freshman setter
Dominique Madarang paced the Eagles with ten assists in the first flight and junior
Glorines Rosado had six early digs to lead the defense. Coppin State had 13 kills and held the Hawks to only ten while seven errors were recorded by MES.
Coppin State struggled offensively in set two with only seven kills and six errors. Freshman

Guro Froberg both posted two kills and Madarang served up five assists. The Hawks rebounded from their first set loss with 13 kills on a .216 attack percentage. Maryland Eastern Shore connected on three service aces while holding Coppin State to .040 attack percentage. MES won set two 25-19.
Maryland Eastern Shore controlled the momentum in the next set with 14 kills and a pair of blocks. Froberg led the Eagles with four of their seven kills as Coppin State sported a low .091 attack percentage. The Hawks led the entire set winning 25-17.
Freshman
Angel Jamerson carried the load in the fourth and final set with three kills, three digs and a pair of service aces. The Hawks excelled with ten kills, three errors for a .280 hitting percentage and held CSU to only seven kills and forced into seven errors. Lougheed added a pair of kills but in the end Maryland Eastern Shore capped the match with a 25-19 victory in set four.
The Eagles fall to 2-23 overall record with a 2-9 MEAC record. The Hawks move to 15-12 overall with an 8-2 MEAC record.
Jasmine Lougheed was the only Eagle to hit double figure kills with ten. Junior
Guro Froberg had nine kills with 12 digs and freshman
Christa Johnson set a new season-high with six kills and three blocks.
Angel Jamerson had a season-high two service aces while finishing with five kills and seven digs.
Dominique Madarang finished with 24 assists and nine digs.
Glorines Rosado led the defense with 14 digs and junior
Jennifer Gell had eight digs.
Coppin State will close out the regular season on Sunday, November 6
th at home against rival Morgan State University at 3 p.m.
