Lady Eagles Set to Square Off Against Aggies

BALTIMORE- After inclement weather postponed the originally scheduled matchup, the Coppin State Lady Eagles (5-11, 2-2) will square off against the North Carolina A&T Aggies on Wednesday evening January 27 in the Physical Education Complex. Tipoff is at 5:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE EAGLES
  • The Lady Eagles are 5-11 and are coming off back-to-back MEAC road losses to Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M. Coppin State is 2-2 in MEAC play and is 3-2 in its last five games.

Coppin State and North Carolina A&T are 2-2 since the 2012-13 season. The Aggies won last season's meeting in Greensboro 69-47. Coppin State defeated North Carolina A&T 57-55 in the 2014 MEAC quarterfinals.

  • The North Carolina A&T Aggies (9-9, 5-2) are .500 after its 84-64 win over Delaware State on Monday January 25.
  • The Aggies beat the Hornets thanks to a hot-shooting second half that saw the Aggies shoot 51.5 percent in the second half which led them to shoot 49 percent for the game.
  • Graduate center Aprill McRae scored 16 points and seven rebounds to mark the fourth straight game she has scored in double figures. Redshirt junior Dana Brown scored 14 points and junior Whitney Martin came off the bench to add 11 points.
 
WHATS DOWN THE ROAD
Coppin State will close its home stand against Maryland Eastern Shore Saturday, Jan. 30. The Lady Eagles makeup game against North Carolina Central has been moved to Thursday, February 18.

The Lady Eagles are 2-2 at PEC Arena during the 2015-16 season. Last year Coppin State was 4-8 in the Physical Education Complex. Their last home win was January 4 against Norfolk State. The Lady Eagles are 1-0 in MEAC home games this season.

This will be the Lady Eagles are first matchup against an opponent from the state of North Carolina. Coppin State went 0-4 against teams from North Carolina during the 2014-15 season.

Senior Jordan Swails notched her fourth career double double with 11 points and a career best 16 rebounds. Swails was an equal opportunity board snatcher, finishing with eight offensive and defensive rebounds.
 
She added two assists, two steals and two blocks.
 
MOST ASSISTS IN A GAME: Genesis Lucas, 7 assists, at Virginia (Dec. 28, 2015)
Genesis Lucas scored four points and a season high seven assists in the setback loss. She also added a steal in 35 minutes of game action.
 
Her seven assists was one shy of her career high. Lucas has now led the Lady Eagles in assists 16 times in her career.
