LORETTO, Pa. – The Coppin State volleyball team dropped a hard-fought 3-0 decision to High Point in the first round of the Red Flash Classic Friday afternoon at Degol Arena.
The Lady Eagles battled hard before falling 25-17, 25-23, 25-21. They got terrific efforts from senior
Cindy Okpegbue, who posted her second double-double in her last three games. Okpegbue collected 12 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore
Bailee Jackson smashed a career best 10 kills and finished with 10 digs for her first career double-double.
It's the first time since last September that Coppin State had at least two players finish with double-doubles in the same match.
Glory Rosado, who is second in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in digs per set, led Coppin State with 16. Senior
Chelsee Sauni finished with 28 assists to lead the Lady Eagles. Included in her total was the 3,200
th assist of her career. She has 3,227.
Leading High Point was Megan Kennedy and Camryn Freiberg with 13 kills each.
Coppin State concludes the Red Flash Classic Saturday with matches against Fordham (11 a.m.) and Saint Francis (7 p.m.).
