BETHLEHEM – The Coppin State baseball team dropped a 7-4 decision to Lehigh at Legacy Park in a non-conference contest Wednesday afternoon.
The Eagles held a 4-3 advantage after four innings. Coppin State scored three runs in the fourth inning to take the lead. The highlights of the inning were run scoring singles by Jack Kraft and
Alejandro Hernandez.
Colin Dower also produced a run when he reached base on a fielder's choice.
Coppin State hustled and bustled its way to a quick 1-0 lead in the second inning following
Darien Percell's leadoff double and
Jeffrey Fitch's single. Percell scored on the backend of a double steal. The other Coppin State hit in the contest belonged to Alex Brown, who singled in the fourth inning.
Lehigh (13-21 overall) took the lead for good following Jacen Nalesnik's two-run homer in the fifth inning that gave the Mountain Hawks a 5-4 lead. Nalesnik and Justin Pacchioli combined for four of Lehigh's 10 hits.
The Eagles (3-26-2) return home this weekend to host Norfolk State in a three-game series at Joe Cannon Stadium beginning with a Saturday doubleheader at 1:00 p.m.
