BALTIMORE – The Coppin State women's basketball team begins the second half of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play against South Carolina State Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Physical Education Complex.
SERIES HISTORYThe Eagles lead the all-time series, 39-23, against S.C. State. Since head coach
Derek Brown took over in 1999, Coppin State is 25-5 over the Bulldogs. In their only meeting last January,
Janelle Lane's first career double-double (16 points and 10 rebounds) led the Eagles to a 62-49 victory over S.C. State. Coppin State has won the last six meetings between the two teams.

Janelle Lane scored in double figures for the tenth time this season with 12 points in Coppin State's 62-53 setback to cross-town rival Morgan State Monday in the PEC Arena. Lane also added five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.
Genesis Lucas was close with 11 points and a team-high four assists. This was her fifth consecutive game leading the Eagles in assists and scoring double digits.
Bria Harris just missed a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Jordan Swails also had nine points and grabbed seven rebounds.
LOOKING AT S.C. STATES.C. State bounced back with a narrow 64-62 win over Delaware State last Saturday. Senior Kourtney Williams surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career with a game-high 28 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. Jasmine Coleman and Amber Howard added nine points apiece. Coleman also tallied a career-best 12 rebounds and two blocks. Williams is the fifth-best scorer in the MEAC, averaging 16.7 points per game. She is shooting 79.5 percent from the foul line, which is fourth in the conference. Howard ranks second in three-point field goal percentage (37.6) and eighth in free throw percentage (74.5) in the MEAC.

Genesis Lucas has been on fire. Through five games, Lucas is averaging 11.6 points and 5.2 assists per game.
