BALTIMORE – The Coppin State men's basketball will play its second straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) home game when it welcomes Norfolk State to the Physical Education Complex for a 7:30 tipoff on Monday night.
Since 1982-83, Norfolk State leads the all-time series, 25-11. The Spartans have won 12 0f the last 14 meetings, including six straight victories over the Eagles.
Coppin State (2-5) (0-1 MEAC) dropped its MEAC home opener 74-71 to Hampton in overtime. This will be the first MEAC game of the season for Norfolk State.
Joshua Treadwell scored a career high 22 points in the Eagles last outing against Hampton; it was the second 20-point performance for Coppin State this season. He has five double figure scoring games this season.
Trevon Seymore tied his career highs of 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals in 40 minutes. He added three assists and now has scored in double digits in three consecutive games.
Keith Shivers poured in 14 points, grabbed a career and tea high nine rebounds, as he added three steals and three assists. Shivers is averaging 14.6 points and 4.7 rebounds over the last four contests for the Eagles.
Overall, five Coppin State players are averaging double figures on the season. Terry Harris leads the Eagles with 13.1 points per game. Kessee is at 12.1 points. Harris Jr., tallies a team-best 9.1 rebounds, with
James Sylvester (10.9 points, 5.1 rebounds),
Joshua Treadwell (10.4) and
Keith Shivers (10.1) also chipping in.
Coppin State led at halftime against Hampton, it was the Eagles second such game. The Eagles are outscoring opponents 298-285 in the second half.
Norfolk State (3-4) is coming off two wins over Northern Arizona and Mercy College. Jeff Short leads Norfolk State with 18 points per contest. D'Shon Taylor is adding 15.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game for the Spartans.
Coppin State will head on the road for its next four games. Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Manhattan, KS for an 8:00 pm (CT) tipoff Wednesday night December 9
