Coppin State Set to Square Off Against #11 Iowa State

BALTIMORE- The Coppin State men's basketball will complete the 2015 calendar year with a road matchup against #11 ranked Iowa State Cyclones on December 30 at 8:00 p.m. ET in Hilton Coliseum in Ames, Iowa.
 
Coppin State and Iowa State are meeting for the third time in series history, with the Cyclones holding a 2-0 edge in the all-time series. Both previous games were played at Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State won the last meeting in 1997, 77-74 in overtime.
 
Coppin State (2-12 overall) is playing in its last non-conference game of the season.
 
Junior guard Trevon Seymore scored a career high 22 points with five rebounds and three assists in a team high 35 minutes of game play. He went 7-of-13 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 5-of-5 from the charity stripe.
 
Seymore is averaging 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.7 steals, on 17-of-18 accuracy from the free throw line over the Eagles last four contests. He is fifth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) in steals (1.5) and seventh (3.2) in assists per game. Seymore leads Coppin State in steals (18) and assists (42).
 
Terry Harris, Jr., leads the Eagles in scoring and rebounding with averages of 12.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game. Harris, Jr., also leads Coppin State with 10 blocks.
 
His five double doubles this season is tied for 36th nationally. Harris, Jr., has eight double-digit scoring games this year, including two game of 25 or more points.
 
Christian Kessee is scoring at an 11.3 point per game clip. He leads the Eagles with 26 made 3-poiners on the season.
 
He has nine double figure scoring games so far this season. Kessee has started every game for Coppin State this season. His 80.0% accuracy from the foul line is third on the team.
 
James Sylvester and Joshua Treadwell are shouldering the scoring load for the Eagles' bench.
 
Sylvester is pouring in 10.6 points per game with 4.1 rebounds, while shooting 47.1% from beyond the arc. He is second in the MEAC in 3-point field goal percentage.
 
Sylvester leads Coppin State with 32 offensive rebounds and is tied for second with 21 assists.
 
Treadwell is adding 9.2 points per game with 3.3 rebounds. His 83.7% accuracy from the free throw line is second on the team in top 10 in the MEAC.
 
Treadwell has seven double figure scoring games off the bench this season.
Coppin State has made a 3-point field goal in 173 consecutive games.
 
The Eagles in the top 10 in the MEAC in scoring offense, free throw percentage, 3-pointers made, rebounding, offensive rebounds, blocked shots, steals and turnover margin.
 
Meanwhile, the Iowa State Cyclones (10-1) come into the game ranked 11th in the national polls.
 
Georges Niang leads the Cyclones with 19.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Monte Morris is adding 14.5 points, 7.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds for Iowa State.
 
Coppin State will return to action after the New Year with its first conference road game on January 9 against Howard at 4:00 p.m. in Burr Gymnasium in Washington D.C.
