BALTIMORE- The Coppin State women's basketball team will play its third consecutive road game against an opponent from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) when it travels to Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va., for a Sunday noon tipoff against Virginia Tech.

This will be the Eagles first time matching up against the Hokies.

Coppin State (2-6) is coming off a setback to No.18 Syracuse 56-88 in the Carrier Dome.

Five Lady Eagles are scoring in the top 30 of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Coppin State is second in the MEAC in scoring offense (61.5 ppg) and first in field goal percentage (39.8%).

Senior forward
Janelle Lane leads Coppin State with 11.0 points per game. Lane is adding 4.0 rebounds per game on 53.2% shooting from the field. Her 13-point outing on 6-of-8 shooting against Syracuse has her fourth in the MEAC in field goal percentage. She also leads Coppin with eight blocks on the season, tied for ninth in the MEAC.

Jordan Swails averaging is 10.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.3 steals per contest. Swails leads Coppin in steals and is second in the MEAC in steals. She has four double figure scoring games and is second on the team in rebounding.

Amber Griffin is chipping in 10 points per game on 44.6% shooting accuracy. Griffin is ninth in the MEAC in assists and second in assists for the Lady Eagles. Griffin now has 315 career assists. She is averaging 2.8 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Genesis Lucas is stuffing the stat sheet as she is turning in eight points, 3.8 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 2.2 steals per game for Coppin State. She is third in the MEAC in assists and steals. Lucas has led the Lady Eagles in steals nine times and assists 14 times in her career. She is also averaging a team high 33 minutes played per game.

Omaah Tayong and
Keena Samuels are double scoring at a 9.3 per game clip. Tayong is leading Coppin State in rebounding at 7.6 per contest. She is sixth in the MEAC rebounding and field goal percentage, shooting 49.2% accuracy from the field. Tayong is fourth in the MEAC in offensive rebounds per game at (3.4).

Samuels tied a career high with four steals against Syracuse. She has six games scoring eight or more points this season. Samuels is tied for second on the team in steals with 13.

Coppin State is in the top five in the MEAC is rebounding (39.8), offesinve rebounds (14.6), defensive rebounds (25.1), assists (12.9), steals (8.6), and 3-point field goal percentage (29.8%).

Meanwhile Virginia Tech (8-1) is on a current six game win streak, including a 57-43 road win over No. 8 Tennessee on December 6.

The Hokies are lead by Vanessa Panousis' 13.1 points per game. Chanette Hicks is adding 9.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists.
