Harris posts double-double in setback to Iowa

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Three Coppin State players reached double digits during a 103-68 road loss to Iowa of the Big-10 Conference on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena Sunday afternoon in a non-conference men's basketball contest.

Christian Kessee and Terry Harris reached double figures in their second straight game to begin the 2015-16 season. For Kessee, who scored 15 points, it was the 15th time in his career he has scored at least 10 points in a game. He is averaging 16.5 points.

Harris impressed again as he posted his second straight double-double, pulling down 11 rebounds to go with his 16 points. Through two games, Harris is averaging 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds.

Harris is beginning to get healthy after an injury limited his practice participation during the last two weeks of training leading to CSU's opening road trip. Once, the Eagles begin conference play, Harris will be a headache as his combination of quickness, height and deft shooting touch will be a tough matchup for anybody.

Josh Treadwell had a strong all-around performance. He scored a Coppin State career best 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds and handed out three assists. Treadwell was aggressive and assertive throughout the contest. James Sylvester handed out a team-best four assists. The Eagles made eight three-pointers and grabbed 44 rebounds for the second straight game.

Coppin State (0-2 overall) endured a long and circuitous trip from Richmond (Kentucky) to Iowa City. The Eagles flew from Louisville to Des Moines early Saturday evening. After arriving in Iowa's capital city, the Eagles drove 90-minutes and arrived to their hotel in Iowa City around 11:00 p.m.

Iowa improved to 2-0 by making a season-best 12 3-pointers. Brady Ellingson scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Hawkeyes.

Coppin State returns home to begin a three-game home stand. The Eagles will host Goldey-Beacom Wednesday afternoon at 12:00 p.m. in a School-Day contest.
