Baltimore - The Coppin State volleyball team dropped its second straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) conference home match to Maryland Eastern Shore 3-0 in a rare Saturday match in the Auxiliary Gym.

UMES won in straight sets 25-23, 25-17, 27-25. Coppin State fought back from a 9-2 deficit to take the lead in the third and final set.

Coppin State (6-10 overall, 3-2 MEAC) was led by seniors
Cindy Okpegbue and
Chelsee Sauni. Okpegbue led the Lady Eagles with an impressive third set, recording 11 of her 18 kills. She now has 1,106 career kills, which makes her the second player in program history to pass that standard. Okpegbue now has 53 career games, with 10 or more kills.

Sauni finished with 35 assists during the contest, which raised her school-leading mark to 3,460 for her career. This was also the seventh time this season in which she has recorded 30 or more assist in a game.

UMES (14-3, 3-1) was led by Zuzana Ondruskova's 16 kills and Petra Jerabkova's 30 assists.

Coppin State returns home Friday night for a conference showdown with Morgan State University at 7:00 p.m. The Lady Eagles will then head on the road Sunday afternoon for a rematch with Howard at 3:00 p.m  Â
