Otero becomes the first signee for Sylvan-Van Norden who is in her first year as the Eagles head coach.
"Gabrielle is an outstanding player and she will be an asset to our program," Sylvan-Van Norden said. "She represents the type of player we want to build our program around."
Otero had an excellent career at Incarnate Word High School in San Antonio, Texas. She was a first team all-district selection as a junior and was also named honorable mention all-state.
Otero helped lead Incarnate Word to the district championship and a berth in the state semifinals and was named second team all-district.
The 5-5 Otero is a defensive specialist who can also set.
