EASTON, Mass. – Angel Garcia and
Emilio Feliciano both had multi-hit games as Coppin State's baseball team dropped the opening game of a three-game series, 18-5, at Stonehill on Friday afternoon at Lou Gorman Field. The Eagles fell to 7-28 overall at 7-15 in the NEC while the Skyhawks improved to 16-20 on the year and 13-6 in league play.
Garcia went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs while Feliciano also had two hits and scored twice.
Noah Hogan and
Pedro Agosto also drove in runs for the Eagles.
Luke Corcoran gave up seven runs on ten hits over the first 3.2 innings before
Nick Dolbin allowed three runs before getting out of the fourth.
Brandon Stephens was charged with six earned runs over the final 2.0 innings while striking out five and walking four.
Stonehill took a 1-0 lead with a run in the second, but the Eagles tied it up with a run in the third on an RBI single by Hogan which scored Feliciano who singled to start the innings.
It was all Skyhawks from there as the hosts scored eight unanswered runs over the next two innings before Coppin got a run back in the fifth on a passed ball which scored Feliciano. Stonehill scored seven runs on just two hits in the bottom half of the inning and added two more in the sixth to lead 18-2.
Garcia connected for a two-run single in the seventh, driving in
Pranav Sundar and
Terrell Milliner, and Agosto drove in
Agustin Murillo, Jr., with a single to follow.
Saturday's game between the two teams is set for 1 pm, followed by a 1 pm start on Sunday.
