WASHINGTON, D.C. – Coppin State's softball team dropped a pair of MEAC games to league-leading Howard on Saturday afternoon at Nationals Youth Academy. Falling, 8-0 in game one, and 10-0 in the nightcap, the Eagles now stand at 8-21 overall and 7-10 in the MEAC while Howard improved to 23-14 on the year and 16-1 in league play.
The Bison scored in each inning of game one as
Julianna Mejia drew a walk while
Leslie Sereno reached on an error.
Debra Hyde and
Tatjana Harris both gave up four runs in each of their two innings of work while allowing 11 hits and six walks.
In game two,
Brooklyn Tapusoa recorded a hit and a walk while
Cameran Corbett tripled and
Brooklyn Lee-Scott doubled. Harris threw a complete game in the circle, allowing ten runs on nine hits.
Howard scored a pair in the first inning before Harris threw a 1-2-3 second inning. The Bison tacked on a run in the third before erupting for seven runs in the fourth.
Coppin and Howard close their series at 1 pm on Sunday, April 19 at Nationals Youth Academy.
