Jayden Clark Has Second-Straight Multi-Hit Game in Baseball’s Loss to Central Connecticut

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Coppin State's baseball team dropped its series finale to Central Connecticut State, 7-1, on Sunday afternoon at CCSU Baseball Field.  The Eagles fell to 4-21 overall and 2-7 in the NEC while the Blue Devils improved to 14-4 on the year and 11-1 in league play.

Jayden Clark had his second-straight multi-hit game with four other Eagles had base knocks, including Pranav Sundar who also drove in a run. Kaden Straily gave up five runs on six hits while striking out three over the first 5.0 innings.  Justin Ritz threw the final 3.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits.

Central Connecticut scored the first four runs of the game with a run in the first and three in the third before Coppin got on the board in the fourth. Clark and Daniel Moore led off the frame with singles before Sundar singled through the left side to drive in Clark.

The Blue Devils got the run back in their half of the fourth before Straily threw a scoreless fifth.  Ritz got through the sixth unscathed but allowed two runs in the seventh.

Coppin threatened in the eighth with a pair of one-out singles, but a double play ended the rally, and the Eagles went down in order in the ninth.

The Eagles heads to Towson for a midweek tilt on Tuesday, April 1 before facing Maryland Eastern Shore for a three-game NEC series on April 4-6.  Coppin will be the road team against the Hawks despite the series being played at Joe Cannon Stadium.
