HANOVER, Md. – Coppin State's baseball team was edged by Wagner, 6-4, on Sunday afternoon at Joe Cannon Stadium in an NEC series finale. The Eagles now stand at 4-17 overall and 2-4 in the NEC while the Seahawks improved to 12-10 on the year and 7-2 in league play.
Indy Anderson and
Bryce Thompson had two hits apiece with Anderson driving in a pair of runs.
Gabe Breckenridge added a double, a run scored and an RBI and also added a sacrifice bunt.
Gavin Grutzmacher also had a hit and drew a pair of walks.
Kaden Straily took the loss despite allowing just two earned runs on four hits over 6.0 innings and he also struck out four.
Justin Ritz threw the final 3.0 innings and gave up three runs on four hits while striking out three.
After a pair of scoreless innings, Wagner got on the board with a pair of runs in the third, but Coppin struck right back with a run in the bottom half.
Anthony Divittorio drew a walk to start the inning and got to second on a single by Thompson before scoring on Anderson's single through the right side.

Jayden Asencio from second as he and
Curtis Battle drew back-to-back walks.
The Seahawks answered right back with a run in the seventh and added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth to take a 6-2 lead. Grutzmacher started a two-out rally for the Eagles with a walk and scored all the way from first as Breckenridge lined a double down the right field line. Breckenridge later scored on another single by Anderson before a new reliever got the final out.
CSU returns to action on Tuesday, March 25 for a 3 pm start at Navy before heading to Central Connecticut State on March 28-30. Saturday's game against the Blue Devils will be played at Dunkin' Park, the home of the Colorado Rockies' Double-A affiliate, Hartford Yard Goats.
