WASHINGTON, D.C. – Coppin State's softball team fell at George Washington University, 8-0, on Tuesday afternoon at GW Softball Field. The Eagles fell to 0-4 on the season while the Buff & Blue improved to 5-1.
Tatjana Harris went the distance in the circle, allowing eight runs on ten hits while striking out one in 5.2 innings.
Giselle Ulloa and
Kylee Sandino had Coppin's only two hits while
Natasha Arroyo drew a walk. The Eagles' best chance to score came in the sixth as Arroyo led off with a walk before advancing to second on Sandino's single through the left side. A groundout by
Paris Pinkston advanced both into scoring position before the threat ended with another groundout.
Harris held GW scoreless through the first two innings, giving up just one hit, before the hosts scored twice in the third. GW added one in the third, four in the fifth before clinching the game with a run in the sixth.
The Eagles return to action on February 27-March 2 at Towson's DeMarini Tiger Clash. Coppin opens against Towson on Thursday afternoon before taking on Colgate and Bryant on Saturday, and both Colgate and the Tigers on Sunday.
