BALTIMORE – Skylar Barnes scored a season-high 14 points and
Sydney Burris posted her second-straight double-double as Coppin State's women's basketball team fell to Marshall, 75-53 on Wednesday night at PEC Arena. The Eagles fell to 1-8 on the year while the Thundering Herd improved to 6-3.
A senior from St. Louis, Mo., Barnes hit 4-of-11 shots from the floor and all six of her free throws to hit double figures for the second time this season. Barnes also added three rebounds and three assists.
Burris tallied 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting to go with a game-high ten rebounds.
Shanaii Gamble and
Mickelle Lowry added eight points apiece, followed by
Paris McBride with five points and a team-high five assists.
Marshall outshot Coppin, 41.9% to 37.3%, hit 12 3-pointers and scored 30 points off 25 Eagles turnovers. Four MU players finished in double figures and the quartet combined for ten of the team's threes.
