KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Coppin State's women's basketball team fell at 13
th-ranked Tennessee, 88-35 on Sunday afternoon at Food City Center. The Eagles dropped to 1-5 on the season as the Lady Vols moved to 5-1 overall.
The Eagles got off to a solid start, tallying 15 points in the first quarter on 7-of-15 shooting, showing poise and preparation on the road.
Shanaii Gamble spearheaded the effort, contributing eight points on 4-of-8 shooting while
Khila Morris added seven points with three assists.
Freshman
Princess Nwachukwu made her first career start and tallied six points, two rebounds and two assists.
Paris McBride, Patricia Sosa Lora and
Skylar Barnes all had four points apiece with Sosa Lora pulling down a team-high ten rebounds, followed by McBride with eight.
Tennessee hit 14 3-pointers and made 40.8% from the field compared to 30.6% for the Eagles. Coppin committed 36 turnovers, which led to 57 points for the Lady Vols.
CSU will head to Fort Myers, Fla., to compete at the Coconut Hoops – Tarpon Bay Division on November 28-30. The Eagles face #7 Oklahoma on Friday night before facing either Florida State or Missouri State two days later.
