RICHMOND, Va. – Jamari Piercy scored a season and game-high 17 points as Coppin State's men's basketball team fell at VCU, 101-58 on Saturday night at Siegel Center. The Eagles fell to 1-7 on the season as the Rams improved to 3-2.
Piercy hit 7-of-13 from the floor with a three and also made 2-of-4 from the line to lead all players in scoring. He also grabbed a pair of rebounds and added a pair of steals.
He was the only Eagles player to reach double figures as
Camaren Sparrow tallied seven points, followed by
Khali Horton and
Chris Morgan with six points apiece and
Hussain Williams with five.
DeMariontay Hall grabbed a team-high five rebounds while
Hassan Perkins dished out a team-high four assists.
VCU outshot Coppin, 55.7% to 37.1% and made 25-of-32 free throws compared to just 6-of-10 for the Eagles.
Three Rams scored at least ten points and the hosts held a 54-28 advantage at halftime.
CSU travels to Rider on Tuesday, November 25 for a 7 pm tipoff on ESPN+ before making the crosstown trek to Loyola Maryland on Sunday, November 30.
