NORFOLK, Va. – Coppin State's
Ryan Archey was named the MEAC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon. This is the fourth time this season that Archey received the award which leads the MEAC.
A freshman from Clinton, Md., Archey averaged 18.0 points with four rebounds, three assists and three steals in a pair of games last week. Archey scored a game-high 19 points with four rebounds at NC Central before coming back with 17 points and a season-high three assists and three steals at South Carolina State.
Archey is averaging 9.1 points and 2.3 rebounds with 25 assists and 16 steals but has upped his production significantly in conference play. Through the first half of the MEAC schedule, Archey ranks sixth in the league in scoring (16.4) along with 3.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and seven steals. His 40 field goals are tied for fourth in the conference.
Coppin returns to action on Saturday, February 17 when it hosts Delaware State in a 4:00 pm tipoff on ESPN+.
