WASHINGTON, D.C. – Justin Winston led all players with 25 points as Coppin State's men's basketball team fell at Howard, 78-69, on Monday night at Burr Gymnasium. The Eagles fell to 2-23 on the year and 1-10 in the MEAC while the Bison moved to 13-15 overall and 7-4 in league play.
Winston hit 9-of-19 shots from the floor, including a 3-pointer, and made all six of his free throws for his third game with at least 20 points this season. Sixteen of Winston's points came in the second half.

Preist Ryan added 11 points and matched
Greg Spurlock with a team-high five rebounds. Fellow first-year players
Camaren Sparrow and
Aa'Reyon Munir-Jones added nine points apiece, followed by Spurlock and
Ryan Archey with five points apiece. Archey also dished out a season-high four assists and
Darryon Prescott chipped in with four points.
Howard outshot Coppin from the floor, 50% to 45.5%, hit ten 3-pointers and made 18-of-22 from the line. The Bison held a 38-21 advantage on the glass.
How it Happened
- Coppin scored the game's first seven points with back-to-back layups by Prescott and Spurlock followed be a three by Sparrow just 70 seconds into the game.
- Howard got on the board with layups on back-to-backs possession before Prescott threw down a thunderous two-handed slam, giving CSU a 9-4 lead at the 17:12 mark.
- Six-straight Bison points gave the hosts the 10-9 lead which Archey answered with a mid-range jumper.
- The teams traded single-point leads before the Bison went on a 10-0 run to take a nine-point lead with just over six minutes left in the half.
- Munir-Jones hit a pair of jumpers to get Coppin back to within five before the Bison extended their lead to 38-29 at the half.
- In the second half, the Navy & Gold got as close as 71-63 after a layup by Winston with 3:29 remaining.
- Five-straight points by Howard helped the Bison seal the win.
